Day 1

We meet you at Cusco Airport and transfer you to your comfortable hotel in the city centre of Cusco. Relax and refresh before our Welcome Dinner in the evening.

Day 2

After a delicious breakfast we set out for the Sacred Valley and our hotel for the next few days near Urubamba. En route we visit the amazing site of Inca horticulturalists at Moray and the ages old salt mines at Salineras. After arrival you can relax in the lovely gardens or explore nearby Urubamba. In the evening we hold our first ceremony, a Fire Ceremony with our Shaman.

Day 3

After breakfast we set out for the archeological site of Urco, near Calca. We explore the ruins, admire the beautiful views along the Sacred Valley and the surrounding high mountains including Pitusiray which towers above us to 5500m. We hold a ceremony of gratitude to Pachamama (Mother Earth) a Despacho. A picnic lunch in this lovely place is followed by a group meditation and time to explore your surroundings quietly absorbing the energy, before returning to the hotel.

Day 4

Our Sacred site today is Killarumioc (or Quilla Rumioc), The Temple of the Moon. An intriguing design cut into solid rock. There is a beautiful waterfall nearby and the two will be the place for our Ceremony of Purification and celebrating The Feminine.

Day 5

Machu Picchu Day. Up early for the short drive to the station in Ollantaytambo for the train trip. (Machu Picchu is not accessible by road) While relaxing on the comfortable ride, we note the slow change to more tropical vegetation as we travel down towards the Western edges of the Amazon jungle. The train follows the river and the mountains close in on either side, snow capped peaks often visible. After about 2 hours, we arrive at Agua Calientes and meet our Shaman and guide. Ignoring the tempting market stalls we catch the bus to the site itself, an awe inspiring ride up a narrow zigzag road eventually emerging on the saddle of the mountain where Machu Picchu remained hidden for hundreds of years. The next few hours are a magical journey into a lost world, an unforgettable experience where every corner reveals a new vision of iconic buildings, temples and the stunning surrounding mountains. We stop for a snack and a rest above the main site with a fabulous view. No ceremonies are allowed on the site but our shaman will explain the significance of everything we see. Back in Agua Calientes we can choose a meal or a drink at a restaurant before catching the train back to Ollantaytambo.

Day 6

Next morning we pack our cases into the van and spend a leisurely morning in Pisaq where there are hill top ruins and a million terraces (well not quite literally!), a world famous market, which as well as the knitwear and weaving, also sells musical instruments, silver jewellery and a huge selection of Peruvian semi-precious stones and crystals. After lunch en route for Cusco there is an opportunity to visit the Awana Kancha Cameloid centre with an excellent little museum, different varieties of llama and alpaca to feed and up-market handicraft shops.A short trip takes us down into Cusco where we settle into our comfortable hotel. Evening meditation or stargazing with our Shaman at Sacsayhuamen which is orientated to planetary systems.

Day 7

Early morning visit to Sacsayhuaman. This is on the hill over looking Cusco and has a huge pre-Inca temple plus the world famous massive defensive zigzag walls which can be seen from space. It has to be seen to be believed! When Cusco was built it was laid out in the shape of a puma and these walls were said to be the teeth but others who have viewed it from the air or on google earth say is is more reminiscent of a dinosaur! What is clear is that it is built on much older foundations and the construction and purpose remain largely a mystery.

Then we head to our walking tour of Cusco centre visiting amongst other things, Quorichanca (Temple of the Sun), the vibrant San Pedro Market and the equally vibrant Gallery of Maximo Laura, world-famous Peruvian tapestry weaver. The afternoon is spent at leisure.

Day 8

First we visit Chinchero, outside Cusco, where we receive an introduction to medicinal plants from a local healer. Then we travel into the mountains to our Shamans Retreat, about an hours drive. Here you have a choice to sleep in tent or in a dorm in the house. We will have a hot meal round the camp fire and take part in a special ceremony bringing together the teachings of the tour and the earlier ceremonies. We will enjoy being close to the stars and nature in a magical place of quiet and beauty.

Day 9

A leisurely morning includes a walking meditation and then we return to Cusco where the afternoon is free for your own activities or the choice to go to Tipon outside the city to see the site of the Inca Royal vegetable garden,( it is thought,) and a Sacred Spring. Beautiful, intriguing ruins set in the side of a mountain, and immaculately kept but no vegetables or fruit unfortunately.

In the evening we have our Farewell Dinner.
